Riza & Jho Low - Assets worth USD1b and counting... |
Different looks of Riza Aziz. Lookout for him. |
Its unthinkable that both Riza Aziz and Jho Low could have fled the US in trying to escape from the FBI and other agencies, including the spicy hot KARI (Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative). Don't think they would have fled as it would not only be foolish but would most certainly reflect on their guilt and alleged involvement in stealing money and/or using money stolen from 1MDB.
There has not been a single word from any of those specifically named in the US Justice Department's suit to forfeit assets worth USD1billion (approximately RM4billion) which were bought using money stolen from 1MDB.
Riza Aziz is Prime Minister Najib Razak's stepson (his current wife Rosmah Mansor's son from her previous marriage).
His close associate, flamboyant 'businessman' Low Taek Jho @ Jho Low is also nowhere to be seen or heard. There has been reports of him being absent from his usual hangouts and watering hole in the US.
Najib Razak was not named in the suit but he has been described in detail to fit the Justice Department's framing of Malaysian Official 1.
U.S. Targets $1 Billion in Assets in Malaysian Embezzlement Case
Our neighbour SINGAPORE too have finally found their fangs after the US Department of Justice's brave actions - Singapore Seizes S$240 Million in Assets Related to 1MDB Probe .
Singapore is trying to show that they are not an up and coming money laundering hub in the region but they are certainly not trying hard enough. Popping only after other jurisdictions have moved in a similar direction, as in their reaction to the Swiss banking authority's recent 1MDB-related actions, doesn't look good on the island state.
Is Jho Low in Penang? That is Jho Low riding a trishaw up there but this picture was taken during his heydays as Najib Razak's public relations mover during the last general election in 2013. If you remember Korean superstar Psy in Penang then you can't forget Jho Low.
But where is Jho Low now, he certainly has not returned to his trishaw rounds in Penang.
Rumours, I repeat rumours, has it that both Rosmah's son Riza and Jho Low have returned to Malaysia from the US and would not be issuing any statements unless and until the United States Government frames criminal charges against them.
There are many more versions of such rumours, including talk that they are both kept comfortable in a well guarded 'safe house' and not taking any visitors. These are the rumours making their rounds.
Jho Low and Riza may still be in New York for all we know, preparing to challenge the Department of Justice' suit to forfeit their assets worth USD1 billion. But its certainly not fair to remain silent while the unnamed but well described Malaysian Official 1 enjoys the international limelight (a glokal one that is).
By the way, rest assured that our much respected Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar who is still investigating the 1MDB scandal would have made the necessary announcements had both Riza and Jho Low set their foot back in their beloved Malaysia.
The duo would have been subjected to long hours of probing questions concerning the missing funds of 1MDB. I'm sure about that. Khalid used to be a top investigator, prior to his appointment as the IGP.
SOSMA would be yawning wide waiting to be unleashed on suspected traitors and saboteurs.
Certainly the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission too would have started questioning Jho Low and Riza Aziz IF they have indeed slipped into town.
Has anyone seen Jho Low and Riza Aziz anywhere, in or outside Malaysia? If you do please alert Khalid and the MACC because they must be looking hard for these guys.

IGP-Twitter seem rattled and annoyed when asked on the recent DOJ's action but managed only to do a PARROT by repeating civil case, civil, civil.....after the Chief-Pirate also saying the same thing.
ReplyDeleteIt makes you wonder what...
-thick skin these people were made of,
-what pride have they since no slightest sense of SHAME on them
-no soul at all in upholding integrity of the Law
-an absence of guilt when telling spin (read LIES)
-absolutely fxxxking couldn't care less attitude whether the country and its people became top-rated perceived in CORRUPTIONS rating
There are just many list of discreditation and embarrassment caused by the Chief-Bugis Pirate and the Institutions that are supposed to be the crux of Integrity and Honor in a country but were all flushed-down the sewer without any feeling of regret.....until now!
We weren't so keen on BERSIH thing but now it seem a peaceful BERSIH 5.0 should be imminent to be more forceful to press the government to come to is senses, that is if they have one!
Islam is agama orang melayu-muslim-bumiputera but, what have the faithful people can defend it with when the very people holding onto power regardless of everything are smearing Islam?

banyak yg mencemuh dgn berkata ds zahid tiada prasyarat (prerequisite) utk menjadi pemimpin utama. 'cakap bahasa inggeris pun lintang pukang'. saya sama sekali tidak bersetuju dgn pendapat itu. lihat sahaja Pres Jokowi - penpendaharaan kata bahasa inggeris nya(vocabulary) amat terhad tetapi rekam /jejak kerja nya setakat ini amat membangga kan sekali. yg penting adalah AMANAH n bersedia menerima pandangan n bimbingan orang pintar n berpengalaman.
Zahid must tell Malaysian who was the saudi prince he met. Maybe he met the prince named Al Wak Hamidi. Now Zahid is a proven lame duck. Malaysian should dump the whole dead wood cabinet.

ReplyDeleteI have argued time and again that the greatest threat to the Muslim world is not the West, but rather, corruption and incompetence in administration in the Muslim countries themselves.
In the case of Malaysia, we are already seeing the breakdown in institutional functioning and credibility which will likely see the country join the other Middle Eastern countries in the infamous club of corrupt and barely functioning states.
Malaysia has been betrayed not so much by its institutional traditions, as by its populist Prime Minister Najib Razak. He has ridden a wave of popular support into power on the back of promises for economic liberalization, and growth and opportunity, but has seemingly wasted no time in milking the state dry for his own personal gain and the gain of his family.
Malaysian civil society must now take firm and immediate action to put the country back on track. If not, I fear that the country will tragically end up as the perfect case study into how the problems of the Islamic world stem primarily from domestic corruption.

1MDB and the US gov’t - what comes next?
ReplyDeleteCOMMENT Some people were surprised when I said that the US government’s seizure of assets - condos, mansions, hotels, and art work - all of which were purchased with money stolen from 1MDB and the Malaysian people - was only the beginning.
It’s true. There’s lots more to come.
There will be criminal indictments coming, most likely including Riza Aziz and Jho Low, who both are very closely connected to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
There will be a mention in a future criminal prosecution of an “unindicted co-conspirator,” who now is widely known as ‘Malaysian Official 1’. When he no longer is in office, he will be indicted in the US.
Here are some thoughts about what happens next on the US side. The US government already has seized these assets, or asked other governments, such as Switzerland and the UK, to seize them.
So now Najib’s stepson Riza and his close adviser Jho Low cannot sell anything or try to get their money out of the US or other countries. They have been blocked.
Under US law, the next step is for Riza, Jho Low, and others to try and prove in a court of law that the assets that were seized from them truly were purchased with their own money - and not from funds stolen from 1MDB.
Of course, they cannot prove that. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) filing was meticulous, thorough, and totally professional. The evidence is all there. It even includes the transcripts of wiretapped phone calls of a panicked Jho Low talking to his bankers.
Thanks to the FBI and DOJ, it is so clear. We know where the money came from. It was stolen from the Malaysian people, through 1MDB.
Your money, not ours
As US attorney-general Loretta Lynch and the others pointed out many times, the money was stolen from the people of Malaysia. The assets belong to them.
So the US government will hold all of the seized assets - the real estate, the paintings, the rights to ‘Wolf of Wall Street’, etc - in trust on behalf of the people of Malaysia, from whom the money was stolen.
The assets will not belong to the US government.
(How ironic that the US attorney-general seems to care more about this thievery than the Malaysian attorney-general does...)
In the meantime, the US government will rent out Riza's condo in New York and his Beverly Hills house. It will take over the management of the hotels in New York and Beverly Hills that were purchased by Jho Low with the stolen money. The US government will collect the profits from all future sales of the DVDs and TV rights of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. The Monet and Van Gogh paintings will go on exhibition somewhere, so everyone can enjoy. And so on.
And all of the profit that is earned will be held in trust by the US government on behalf of the Malaysian people. It is your money, not ours.
What about Rosmah’s son, Riza?
Young Riza will soon be homeless. The US government has seized his homes.
In order to save itself and the films it has in production (including a new film about George Washington, starring Leonardo DiCaprio), I predict that Red Granite Pictures will get rid of Riza.
So Riza will be jobless, too.
When the US government files criminal charges against Riza (and I am sure they will), they will ask the court to seize his passport so he cannot leave the US.
The Malaysian Embassy in Washington may try to defraud the US government and issue a new passport to Riza, with a new number, so he can leave the country. At that point, we will see how efficient the US government is at catching this.
If the Malaysian government asks for the seized assets to be transferred back to them, the US government will do so.
But will Najib do that? No. If Najib asks for the money back, it means that he is admitting that the money was stolen from the development fund that he headed, that the stolen money went to his stepson and his "adviser" Jho Low, and that he has been lying about this to the Malaysian people for years.
So, of course he will never do that.
COMMENT
Continued -,
Asking for the money back will have to wait for a future prime minister.
And why would Najib want to ask "for the money back," when he and his family and cronies already have it - or have spent it?
An international pariah
From an international viewpoint, this is the end of Najib. He is an international pariah. The world now thinks he is a crook. He is a fraud. The world will want nothing to do with him. He will not be welcomed anywhere. When he speaks to the United Nations General Assembly next fall, there will be only 30 or so people in the room, mostly Malaysians. Other leaders will be embarrassed to be seen with him, to shake his hand, to be photographed with him.
As for Rosmah, her credit at Hermes and Tiffany's and elsewhere is now cut off. Those luxury stores now know the money was not hers. It was stolen from the Malaysian people. They do not want to be complicit in international money-laundering. They have their own reputations to protect.
That is how the world will react. But how will the Malaysian people react? Will Najib get away with this, back in Malaysia?
I fear that the answer is yes. If so, it means that Malaysia is now in Mugabe-Land.
The inspector-general of police (IGP) says that the US government never asked for cooperation from the Malaysian government in their investigation. Yet both the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the FBI have said that they cooperated with each other in this investigation. The IGP knows the truth, so why did he say otherwise? Why did he lie?
The Malaysian AG says that this is all speculation and innuendo, and that there is no proof of the US government's charges. Yet the US government has issued a very thorough, professional, and detailed 136-page filing of evidence with the court. It is there for the AG to read. Instead, why did he choose to insult the integrity of the US government? Why did he lie?
As long as Malaysia’s IGP and AG continue to deny the truth in the face of the overwhelming facts, we know where this is going.
How ironic it is, that is the US government - the FBI and the US attorney general - who are doing the job that the IGP and Malaysian AG should be doing.
As US AG Lynch said, this is the Malaysian people’s money. It is not America’s.
We want to give it back to you.
M'sian Official 1 mentioned 31 times in US court papers

ReplyDeleteDOSE OF REALITY.....
For Najib, economic stability is crucial as he seeks the votes of rural and semi-urban areas in the next election due by 2018. At stake for Umno is the unbroken rule of its Barisan Nasional coalition since independence in 1957. He’s had recent wins in local polls in Malaysia’s biggest state of Sarawak on Borneo island and two federal by-elections.
“1MDB seems not to be the top issue for rural voters and they eye more on economic and social welfare, which could be tackled by targeted fiscal measures,” said Vincent Tsui, a Hong Kong-based economist at AllianceBernstein LP which oversees about US$490 billion.
While the 1MDB drama has raised doubts about governance and accountability in Malaysia, the structure of domestic politics likely protects Najib. His mentor-turned-nemesis Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who was premier for over two decades, has repeatedly said Umno will lose the next election if Najib is leader.
The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections, or Bersih, is considering another anti-Najib rally similar to one that brought out an estimated 300,000 people last August. The premier’s supporters say they’ll respond with their own march to show their allegiance.
As long as Najib retains the backing of Umno’s powerful division heads — the bulk of whom have stood by him in the past year — fresh protests will carry little weight. The views of those chiefs will become increasingly important closer to an election, depending on whether they feel Najib can carry the party to another win. Some economists have said Najib may consider an early election for 2017, to take advantage of the opposition infighting.
Having early elections could “completely put to bed” any political risk premium for Malaysia, said Singh from RBS.
“The political risk premium on Malaysian assets has come down quite a bit already,” Singh said. “If there’s another election and there’s a strong showing by Umno, whatever’s left will also go away.”
PENDEK KATA......
a) It's not an urban battle
b) The orang kampung can easily see a bag of rice as more important than solving 1MDB
c) With Hadi Awang as an unofficial Umno minister and fed fully with dedak to split votes, the Bugis lanun can still win GE14
d) The KBPDN (Ketua Bahagian Parti Dedak Najib) are all as immoral as their party leader. As long as they get cheques for 2 million plus other illegal perks, they will never rebel.
e) Grassroots change is vital.
Jho Low is one shameful specimen of Chinese ... must be descended from megalomaniac manchu dynasty mandarins bent on carving out an empire of self-glorification from the blood and sweat of peasants.
ReplyDeleteIt appears from the glee on his face, as he entertained Paris Hilton, to an orgy of expensive bubbly, that common sense had taken leave. Money has that effect on people especially when it suddenly and superabundantly arrives.

ReplyDeleteSHAROL HALMI, THE NEW RAZAK BAGINDA?
Consider this offer:
"We'll pretend to charge you in court as the "inside man" who worked with Jho Low and the two Arabs. (Of course we will have the charges dropped on some technicality later.) Then you go into exile in London, with one million pounds a monrh living expenses paid for by Malaysian taxpayer wired into your account."
Will Shahrol volunteer to be the kambing hitam?
He'd be stupid to, because his story is already contradicted by wiretap evidence that shows the direct link between Jho Low and the Bugis lanun.
The US and other countries have that already.
Let's see how smart Shahrol really is.
