1MDB scandal - You call this a Road Map?

Malaysia's beleaguered 1MDB gets US$1 billion injection from Abu Dhabi group

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's debt-ridden state investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), has entered into a binding agreement with Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) and its subsidiary Aabar Investments.
The deal will see IPIC make a payment of US$1b to 1MDB on or before June 4, 2015, money that will go towards paying off the power-to-energy fund's US$975m loan from a syndicate of international bank lenders.
1MDB has been at the centre of controversy in Malaysia over its massive debt pile and allegations of financial mismanagement by its CEOs and advisory board, headed by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Malaysia's auditor-general and Public Accounts Committee are both conducting probes into 1MDB's accounts.
In a statement, the Finance Ministry said the IPIC deal "marks a significant step towards reducing 1MDB’s overall debt levels, and is a crucial part of the rationalisation plan" for the firm, a plan that's expected to be implemented in full by early 2016.
The Finance Ministry said the agreement with IPIC also includes "further measures to comprehensively address the various financial asset and liability transactions between the parties"
To me this appears like nothing but a cheap 'korek lobang tutup lobang' initiative. What do you think?

God save my country!

1MDB - Arul Kanda is back to back Najib

CEO returns for a strategic dinner... and PAC later.
BIG bullshit. No?
BIG bullshit repeated in Parliament by Finance Minister. No?

Bullshit after bullshit. No?

Nur Jazlan: PAC arranging meetings with Arul Kanda, Shahrol

27 MAY 2015

KUALA LUMPUR: – The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) will arrange meetings with 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) chief executive officer (CEO) Arul Kanda Kandasamy and former CEO Datuk Shahrol Halmi as soon as possible following their failure to turn up for their scheduled meetings with the PAC yesterday, said PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.

He said PAC would not delay further in calling them up after confusion arose pertaining to the letter sent to Ministry of Finance (MoF) by the PAC on May 6 for them to testify before the committee.
“Don’t worry, they will come (to give their statements), they have already made public that they will come. “We also do not want to delay this procedure, we will be calling them up as soon as possible, there is no more delay, the confusion that arose between the MoF and the two witnesses (in regards to the letter) caused some slight problems to us,” he told reporters after holding a meeting with representatives of the Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority at Parliament House today.

Elaborating further, Nur Jazlan said PAC had sent a letter to MoF on May 6 to get Arul Kanda and Shahrol to give their statements yesterday (May 26) in regards to the PAC’s probe into the company’s dealings. -- BERNAMA

I'm quite sure Datuk Nur Jazlan and his team of MPs in the PAC would have the opportunity to grill Arul Kanda Kandasamy sooner than expected.

It is understood that the responsible CEO of 1MDB has rushed back to Malaysia from his overseas business engagement to face the PAC in the next few days, or latest by next week.

It is unclear when Arul Kanda actually landed back in Kuala Lumpur after his unavoidable work commitments overseas but the newly minted CEO did take part in an equally important 'strategic dinner' with prominent figures, some who will go down in history for varying reasons.

Just hoping that Arul Kanda had grabbed the opportunity to explain how the USD1.103 billion in hard cash could have transformed into assets and later units in a matter of just three months.

Over and above that, Arul Kanda would have also taken the opportunity to make it clear to Tan Sri Shahrir Samad, Datuk Rahman Dahlan and Mr Paul Stadlen as to how 1MDB had misled MoF officials into believing that the 'units' in the private Swiss bank in Singapore were actually hard cash.

Arul Kanda must not forget that this cash-asset-units twister has now put the Malaysian Prime Minister at risk of being cited for misleading or telling a lie in Parliament.

A police report has been lodged against Najib over this 'lie'. The police, I'm pretty sure, would be able to wrap up their investigations before the PAC wrap theirs. It's a simple straight forward case.

If Attorney General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail is still in office and not replaced by a young but senior Umno lawyer by the time police conclude their investigations, Gani would have to then decide if there is enough evidence to charge the Prime Minister. (Please make sure the Parliament Hansard doesn't go missing. Tq)

If Malaysia is Italy, Najib would certainly be in Silvio Berlusconi's shoes by now for 'the MoF officers prepared written answer for the Finance Minister'.

Coming back to last night's jovial Aloft in KL Sentral dinner, Arul Kanda must have also given some exclusive insights to the BNBBC chairman, the Minister and the British Advisor on the possible content of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)'s recent report to Bank Negara.

Well the fact is that Arul Kanda is back,  just a day and not a month, after his original appointment with the PAC. The PAC could now continue with its interrupted business and set a date to listen to Arul Kanda.

Malaysians, and some Singaporeans, are eager for his latest 'I can assure you' assurances.

p/s Wonder if Shahrol would also cut short his one-month postponement and sit for a similar strategic dinner... so that everyone appears to be on the same page before they appear before the PAC.

Luahan hati Timbalan Presiden Umno - 1MDB

Insyaallah!

Who pays the British Advisor to the Prime Minister?

Putrajaya has never paid Paul Stadlen, minister says
BY SHAZWAN MUSTAFA KAMAL
KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — The federal government has never paid former APCO Malaysia boss Paul Stadlen, Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said.
In a written parliamentary reply to Sepang MP Mohamed Hanipa Maidin, the minister in the Prime Minister’s department did not confirm or deny Stadlen’s alleged role as a member of the Prime Minister’s department’s national communications team.
“Until now, the government has not made any payment of wages to Paul Stadlen,” Shahidan said.
Hanipa had asked the minister to state how much the government had paid the former APCO Malaysia boss, as well as a breakdown of the PM department’s list of official advisors and their fees.
In the reply, Shahidan said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has four advisors — Datuk Seri Dr Abdullah Md Zin, Datuk Wira Mohd Johari Baharum, Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim and Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
“The government only pays wages and allowances in accordance to each person based on their given expertise,” Shahidan added but did not elaborate further.
Opposition leaders have demanded Putrajaya to disclose the details of Stadlen reported employment with the Prime Minister’s Office.
In February, DAP’s Lim Kit Siang said he had submitted specific verbal questions to Najib, asking him to confirm an allegation made by the Sarawak Report website that Stadlen is allegedly being paid millions of ringgit for his communications policy. - MalayMailOnline

So the million dollar, or rather billion ringgit, question now is WHO paid the wages of the British Advisor for the Prime Minister?

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been doing a lot of things out from the ordinary, that includes the way he conducts vital Government business.

1Malaysia Development Berhad - 1MDB - is a classic example of Najib's abnormal behaviour as head of our administration.

The Deputy Prime Minister and the entire cabinet, except for the Finance Minister who is Najib himself, was kept in the dark of how a multi-billion ringgit Government business was being conducted. Nobody knew anything, or so they say, until 1MDB's bloated RM42 billion debt and scandalous dealing were made public by outsiders. What if the scandal was never exposed?

While the secrecy of 1MDB is no longer an issue as the scandal is now being scrutinised by many parties, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore, another of Najib's able minister has made another mind boggling declaration in Parliament.

Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim told the August House that -"Until now, the government has not made any payment of wages to Paul Stadlen" .

Does Shahidan's written reply mean that the Government owes Paul Stadlen million of ringgit in unpaid wages for his Public Affairs and Government Affairs Services, his role in the National Communications Team under the Prime Minister's Office and for other precious personal/professional services to the Prime Minister and/or the Government?

Who paid for his services when his nose was everywhere during the MH370 and MH17 crisises. If not Putrajaya was it Washington, London or Almaty?

I hope the Prime Minister's intelligent spokespersons don't insinuate that Paul Stadlen and his bunch of foreign assistants are paid by Najib's wealthy in-laws from Kazakhstan. Don't continue to behave as though we Malaysians are stupid. We can't allow outsiders to pay for the services some other foreigners provide for our Prime Minister.

I wrote about this particular British Advisor for the Prime Minister in November 2014. The posting has since been hacked with pictures and documents removed but luckily the revealing text and links are still there. Some documents and pictures still appear in Din Turtle's blog HERE

So Mister Prime Minister, are your British Advisor's services fully sponsored by the British Government? Please tell us so we Malaysians, the once subjects of the great kingdom, could congratulate and thank the newly re-elected Prime Minister of Britain.

p/s Just received a rare business card of Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing who is now (according to the name card) is the Special Programme Coordinator of the Prime Minister. Don't ask me what kind of Special Programme as this is news to me too.
Don't worry, I won't ask who pays the creative Tan Sri's wages.

TV3 challenged to organise Dr Mahathir - Najib debate

Veteran newsman Datuk A Kadir Jasin has challenged TV3 to organise a debate between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

In a sms message sent to Datuk Seri Ashraf Abdullah - Media Prima's Group Managing Editor, News and Current Affairs, TV News - and copied to Media Prima Berhad's Independent non-Executive Chairman Tan Sri Johan Jaaffar , Datuk Kadir threw the challenge after an earlier request for a right of reply to TV3's lopsided news reports were ignored.

Reproduced below is Datuk Kadir's latest message to Ashraf and Johan, which was copied to Najib's Press Secretary/Media Director Datuk Tengku Sharifuddin, and this blogger.
In his earlier sms (reproduced below) to Ashraf, which was also copied to Johan, Datuk Kadir had requested for TV3's airtime for a right of reply for Dr Mahathir, Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin and himself following a barrage of lopsided TV3 news reports quoting dubious characters.

"There was no reply to my earlier sms. As former journalists I expected some form of response from them but none came about. I requested for a right of reply to all those wild allegations they have been airing over TV3.

"In view of Dr Mahathir's latest statement that he was prepared for a debate with the Prime Minister, I sent another sms to Ashraf and Johan and this time I also copied the request to Najib's long time Press Secretary Datuk Tengku Sharifuddin.

"TV3 may continue to ignore my earlier request and now my challenge for them to organise a live debate between Dr M and Najib but I'm quite optimistic that Tengku Sharifuddin has the wisdom to grab this opportunity for his boss," Datuk Kadir said when I spoke to him late last night.
A live TV debate between Dr Mahathir and Najib. What do you think?

I think Datuk Kadir Jasin's suggestion is timely and a golden opportunity to settle the score. It would also be an excellent platform for Najib to convince Malaysian that he is fit to remain as Prime Minister.

If the Prime Minister and Umno president is indeed a man of substance whose image has been unfairly tarnished by critics, this is the opportunity for him to silence his critics by taking on his No1 critic on national television. Let the nation bear witness.

I'm quite certain that, himself being a seasoned journalist, Najib's Media Director would be able to convince his boss to grab this opportunity. The Media Director (if he is still empowered to provide direction to the media) should then request TV3 to organise the debate.

Any journalist worth his salt would agree that truth should come unvarnished, not via some consultant prepared text.

Would Najib dare debate 1MDB, BR1M and possibly Tabung Haji?

I'm think Najib must also be eager to remind Dr Mahathir during the face-off about how the quota system in Umno managed to keep Dr Mahathir in power for 22 years. No?

Who Dares, Wins.

MAY13 - Noose tightens in Singapore for scandalous debt-fund 1MDB

Deutsche-led group in talks over US$975m 1MDB debt
By Anita Gabriel

May 13 (Business Times) -- Singapore

THE financial plight of the debt-laden 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) is set to deepen, as jittery lenders of a US$975 million syndicated loan led by Deutsche Bank plan to ask the troubled state-owned firm to pay up before the loan falls due in less than four months.

The Business Times understands that the offshore loan, led by Deutsche Bank Singapore and syndicated to five Gulf banks including Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, is guaranteed by the Malaysian government.

But the creditor banks have turned panicky - some more than others - as the loan is secured with 1MDB's wholly owned Brazen Sky's US$1.103 billion, which the state-backed firm has said is being kept at Swiss private bank BSI Singapore here.

What seems troubling, sources say, is that the "securitisation document" for the loan has now been deemed "incomplete", as one of the covenants was not fulfilled. This essentially allows lenders to demand payment on the loan anytime before it becomes due at the end of August.

A source said: "What was earlier construed as a tightly collateralised loan is now making the banks nervous, given this controversy."

The worst-case scenario, say market watchers, is that if the lenders declare the loan to be in default, 1MDB could run headlong into a situation of a cross default on the rest of its debts of RM42 billion (S$15.5 billion). This has been a possibility long flagged by naysayers.

For now, the affected parties are believed to be locked in intense negotiations to avert such a crisis involving the loan, which was used by 1MDB to pay Abu Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) to terminate an option to subscribe for the future listing of 1MDB's power asset, Edra Energy.

Edra's stock offering has since been delayed, and there is no certainty it will take off as planned.

In a recent report, whistleblower site Sarawak Report alleged that BSI Singapore had informed the Singapore authorities that the documents related to 1MDB's account in BSI were in fact "false bank statements" and "did not represent a true account of the assets of the 1MDB subsidiary". In short, Sarawak Report alleged that there was "no actual cash" in the account, citing "insider information gained in Singapore".

On its part, 1MDB has said that it would not comment on speculation and market rumour.

Contacted for comments on the matter, a spokesman for Deutsche Bank Singapore said that the bank was "unable to assist".

The unfolding of the 1MDB saga highlights the widening reach of the controversy, which has extended to several banks in Singapore, such as BSI, RBS Coutts and now, Deutsche Bank.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has said that it was providing assistance, within the full ambit of its laws, to Malaysian regulators that are probing 1MDB's accounts and business practices.

Industry sources say that some of the banks here, BSI Singapore being one of them, have hired legal representatives in the event the situation turns serious and potential claims are made against them.

A source said: "If things start to develop and no one is sure what the affected parties might do, the banks need to ensure legal representation is in place to defend their position. It's a normal prudent move on their part."

One of BSI Singapore's officers who may have been involved in 1MDB's dealings with the bank has been on "gardening leave", and is believed to have hired lawyers, in case the need arises.

A lawyer said: "MAS is a prudent and diligent regulator and has a lot of power to obtain information from banks very quickly. The question is whether this saga involving banks in Singapore is about lapses in best practices or breaches that are under the jurisdiction of other regulatory bodies such as the CAD (Commercial Affairs Department) and the police."
- Business Times Singapore
I believe the above report is self explanatory.

I hope the Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, who is also Finance Minister and Chairman of 1MDB's board of advisors comes up with some believable tales to explain this humiliating piece of news from our southern neighbours.

Najib may also want to tell us the rakyat if the above 'subject' was also part of his recent talks with the still much respected Prime Minister of Singapore.

My simple advice to the Prime Minister before he reads out another consultant/advisor prepared text is... please refer to my previous posting - Yes Prime Minister.

TQ Mr Prime Minister.

p/s Does anybody know the whereabouts of 1MDB's recently minted head-boy Mr Arul Kanda Kandasamy?

- www.chedet.cc

Ini pula kenyataan Muhyiddin yang disiarkan portal The Malaysian Insider.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has openly criticised the government's handling of the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal and warned that the issue was so serious that it might explode.
He told reporters following him on a working visit to Milan, Italy, that the debt-ridden 1MDB was the biggest factor that led to Barisan Nasional's (BN) loss in the Permatang Pauh by-election yesterday.
The Umno deputy president admitted that he was not even able to explain the scandal when campaigning because, "I don't even know what to say".
"The rakyat wants to know, not just Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. The rakyat wants to know why no one has been charged, why the 1MDB board has not been sacked, and about the position of the CEO and the prime minister as adviser," said Muhyiddin.
He said the situation was toxic and might have a huge adverse impact not just on the people, but Umno as well- See more at: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/1mdb-scandal-could-explode-on-umno-says-muhyiddin#sthash.LH2hFDNC.dpuf

Ini kenyataan Shafie Apdal -

Isu pembelian Tanah 1MDB.

Kenyataan BERANI Pemuda Umno Malaysia pula di-SINI

Ramai juga yang tertanya-tanya. Kenapa Najib Razak senyap seribu bahasa.
