Selamat Tahun Baru - Lets go back to basics

Don't be shocked if our youngsters don't know this flower.
1. Belief in God (Kepercayaan kapada Tuhan)

This Nation has been founded upon a firm belief in God. It was in the name of God that this Nation was established as a sovereign State.

Islam is the official religion of the Federation. Other religions and beliefs may be practised in peace and harmony and there shall be no discrimination against any citizen on the ground of religion.

2. Loyalty to King and Country (Kesetiaan kepada Raja dan Negara)

Malaysia is a constitutional monarchy and the Yang di‑Pertuan Agong is the sovereign Head of State. Parallel with this institution of the Yang di‑Pertuan Agong as a constitutional monarch is the continued existence of the institution of the State Rulers who are heads of their respective States.

The Yang di‑Pertuan Agong, the Rulers and the Governors are symbols of unity and therefore stand above politics.

The loyalty that is expected of every citizen is that he must be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty the Yang di‑Pertuan Agong and be a true, loyal and faithful citizen of the Federation. In addition, and without derogating from such loyalty, citizens who are subjects of the Rulers mu"i bear true allegiance and loyalty to their respective Rulers.

Loyalty constitutes the soul of our nationalism.. It is this inherent loyalty to King and Country which binds together our various races into one single, united Nation. Loyalty to other countries is inconsistent with undivided loyalty to this Nation.

3. Upholding the Constitution (Keluhuran perlembagaan)

Citizenship confers on a person membership of a state. The Constitution confers on a citizen certain rights and privileges; it also imposes on him certain duties and obligations towards the Nation.

It is the duly of a citizen to respect and appreciate the letter, the spirit and the historical background of the Constitution. This historical background led to such provisions as those regarding the position of His Majesty the Yang di‑Pertuan Agong and Their Royal Highnesses the Rulers, the position of Islam as the official religion, the position of Malay as the national and official language, the special position of the Malays and other Natives, the legitimate interests of the other communities, and the conferment of citizenship. It is the sacred duty of a citizen to defend and uphold the Constitution.

4. Rule o f Law (Kedaulatan Undang-undang)

Justice is founded upon the rule of law. Every citizen is equal before the law. Fundamental liberties are guaranteed to all citizens. These include liberty of the person, equal protection of the law, freedom of religion, rights of property and protection against banishment.

The Constitution confers on a citizen the right of free speech, assembly and association and this right may be enjoyed freely subject only to limitations imposed by law. The rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution do not include the right to overthrow the Government either by force or by other unconstitutional means.

The Rule of Law is ensured by the existence of an independent judiciary with powers to pronounce on the constitutionality and legality or otherwise of executive acts.

5. Good Behaviour and Morality (Kesopanan dan Kesusilaan)
Individuals and groups shall conduct their affairs in such a manner as not to violate any of the accepted canons of behaviour, which include the abhorrence and rejection of any conduct or behaviour which is arrogant or offensive to the sensitivities of any group. No citizen should question the loyalty of another citizen on the ground that he belongs to. a particular community. Good behaviour also includes a high standard of morality in both our personal and public life.

After reading and understanding the five tenets of this nation (above), you can't deny that we are/have been heading in the wrong direction.

We have almost completely abandoned the fundamental principles inked by our founding fathers. It may be bitter but that is the situation we are stuck in now.

Would it be impossible to drop the never ending political debates and blame game (in particular the multiple games played between races and our respective religious experts, politicians and their lackeys) and move on?

I hope better sense prevails in this blessed nation. Malaysia was flying high, heading towards greater heights just slightly over a decade ago. What happened to her?

Just slightly over ten years ago, we stood tall in the global arena. Our voices were loud and clear because we called a spade by its name. We were not feared by respected by friends and foes.

Although we refused to kowtow to any superpower or their lackeys in this region we stood tall in Asia and Asean.

We chair Asean now. That looks good on paper, but where do we really stand in the eyes of our Asean counterparts.

Have we now become another lackey of those warmongers?

There is a Malay saying which reads "Sesat dihujung jalan, pulang kepangkal jalan". If you are a Malaysian you should understand this simple saying.

It's about going back to basics when everything else ends up in a mess. The Rukunegara could certainly provide some guidance, for the top most principle of the Rukunegara is 'Belief in God'.

I truly wish, pray and hope that we in Malaysia and the rest of the world have a better 2015.

Happy New Year Malaysia!

BENCANA BANJIR - Tolong bantu tanpa 'politik'

Fikirkan lah!

From Perth to Hawaii - Is Najib heading in Pak Lah's direction?

Our Prime Minister Najib in pink, in the background
HONOLULU — President Obama has generally refrained from mixing business and pleasure on the golf course. On vacation here in Hawaii, he has mostly hit the links with the same circle of longtime friends and White House aides he usually pals around with. Until Wednesday, when a newbie joined the First Foursome — Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

The White House said Najib, along with aides Joe Paulsen and Mike Brush, was playing with the president on the course at the Marine Corps base at Kanehoe Bay. Turns out Najib was in town on his own getaway, and it is not unprecedented for Obama to do a golf summit with a world leader. Last year in Hawaii, he played with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key. (In 2011, Obama famously played a round with House Speaker John A. Boehner at Andrews Air Force Base that did not exactly lead to a good working relationship off the course.)

Obama has established perhaps a better working relationship with Najib, after making the first visit by a sitting U.S. president to Malaysia in nearly half a century last spring. It was unlikely they had an in-depth discussion of their foreign policy agendas on the course, however, but perhaps focusing instead on trying to avoid the sand traps.

In a statement, the White House said: "The two leaders took the opportunity to discuss the growing and warming relationship between the United States and Malaysia. The president said he looked forward to working with Prime Minister Najib in 2015, during Malaysia's chair year of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations."

On the 18th hole, reporters were allowed onto the course briefly. Obama missed a putt to the left off the hole, then tried to tap in but "picked the ball up before it missed again," according to a pool report. Najib also missed a second putt, but Obama consoled him with a pat on the shoulder.
- WASHINGTON POST

Newbie in a foursome, avoiding sand traps and about being consoled by none other than the US President certainly makes a good read.

If you take golf out of the equation then the whole paragraph above would send different signals to different people. Painting a perception, in most instances, is vital.

Ok, don't underestimate the perception when our Prime Minister is engaged in a foursome with Supreme Commander of the US Military, the most powerful war machine in the world.

Obama 'looking forward to working with Najib in 2015' paints a perception that the Malaysian PM will most probably remain in his seat despite the growing uneasiness to his lame, flip-flop leadership.

The possibility of Obama and Najib focusing on how to avoid sand traps would certainly be useful for both leaders. Obama has his problems too, from Russians to the Republicans.

Najib in the meantime could probably use the 'how to avoid sand traps' manual to handle the 1MDB saga. I see Najib's strategists, advisors and all those bangangs are still busy shooting messengers.

Oh ya, don't worry Najib Tun Razak with the fact that more than 100,000 people have been displaced in Malaysia due to floods and at least one or two states may opt to declare a state of emergency if the situation worsens.

The fact that the Prime Minister is away on holiday while the country is wrecked by disaster is nothing new. Jangan mudah lupa.

Najib is certainly heading in Pak Lah's direction.

Nasi Kandar (banjir) dah bungkus will lead you to Nasi (Kandar Perth) dah bungkus

In December2006/January2007 when Johor experienced its worst floods in a hundred years, Pak Lah was on holiday in Perth. Jangan mudah lupa. We, the pro-government guys had hit out at him.

If its the same set of rules, start counting.

p/s I wonder if Obama and Najib also discussed Anwar Ibrahim. I really wonder.

Kerajaan jual tanah lagi?

BTW what happened to the Tugu Negara THEME PARK?

1MDB - Don't shoot the messenger and try to politicise crime

The police report lodged against 1MDB is very specific. The report called for a thorough investigations into specific matters and dealings of a debt-ridden 'sovereign wealth fund' that is wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia.

The police report makes no mention of or was not aimed at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Umno the political party or any of its office bearers or members including Umno secretary general Datuk Seri Teuku Adnan Teuku Mansor and his loyal speaker Datuk Salleh Said Keruak from Sabah.

Even the names of several Umno politicians who are believed to be involved in 1MDB's land purchases, especially in Penang and Selangor, was not mentioned in the report.

Any human being with a just a pinch of common sense would realise that the police report by Datuk Seri Khairuddin (see report and details in my previous posting) was specifically against the much tainted 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

The report is actually an opportunity for 1MDB to come clean, if the fund is indeed clean and has nothing but the interest of this nation and her people at heart.

To me Khairuddin appears like nothing but a responsible Malaysian, with tonnes of guts, who dared stand up to initiate an investigation into 1MDB because there has been so much confusion about the secrecy shrouded 'sovereign wealth fund'.

Oh ya, he happens to be an Umno member and has been elected as the Deputy Division Chief in Batu Kawan, Penang.

We hear not only Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Daim Zainuddin but quite a number of other eminent Malaysians, politicians and others, have also been questioning the wheelings and dealings of 1MDB.

Some do it openly while others in their own forums. Some do it to rectify the situation while many to run down the administration.

Even the Governor of our central bank, Bank Negara, seems very concerned if not disturbed with the debt-ridden wealth fund.

So, why is there an increased attempt to shoot, ridicule, threaten and defame the messengers? Is someone trying to cover up some criminal activities somewhere?

Why do some Umno leaders go to the extend of 'oiling' a certain PKR top leader, a VP no less, to attack Tun Daim Zainuddin simply because the former Finance Minister had voiced his reservations on the debt-ridden 1MDB and the funds parked in Cayman Islands.

I was told they not only 'oiled' the PKR shorty but also forced mainstream media organisations to provide the space and air-time to publicise the attack against Tun Daim. Why is this so?

Umno's top leader/leaders sleeping with the enemy to cover up a multi-billion dollar scam? I hope not.

Why is it that the Umno secretary general wants the police report against 1MDB withdrawn

Why is the secretary general's speaker Salleh Said Keruak questioning the motive of the report against 1MDB? Are you guys on 1MDB's payroll or have something to hide? If not, why?

I think its time for some politicians, Umno leaders in particular, to realise that the world doesn't revolve around you. This is not about you. This is not about your self serving antics you call politics.

This is about Malaysia our nation. There are fears, and these fears look real, that this nation is being raped by those trusted to administer and manage her. The police report on 1MDB demands nothing but a full disclosure and transparency of 1MDB. What is the problem?

Opposition politicians too have been having a field day making fun and ridiculing 1MDB for more than a year now, with Government and its supporters stuck dumbfounded unable to counter the Opposition's 'lies'.

I hope the police report, and I hear about a similar report to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission, is allowed to take its course without any interference. In normal circumstances such investigations would be able to provide some answers to clear the mess.

I strongly believe Najib Razak has nothing to fear. When you have nothing to hide, why fear? I can't say the same about all those learned advisors and slimy characters around him though.

In fact the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and 1MDB advisor, on his return from overseas, should call for an urgent press conference and make it clear that both the police and MACC will have a free hand to investigate 1MDB.

The government could even consider appointing an independent audit firm to assist our Public Accounts Committee to clear the air about 1MDB, once an for all.

Come clean. That is all what we are asking for.

p/s In the meantime I would advise Najib's boys to try to keep their cyberdogs in check because they have been forcing dirty laundry out in the open. This is not a request. TQ

UMNO leader lodges police report on 1MDB

Batu Kawan Umno Division deputy leader Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan speaking to members of the media after lodging the police report on 1MDB at the Dang wangi police station in Kuala Lumpur after Friday prayers today.
The report urges the authorities to look into the following, among other things:
  • The procedures 1MDB follows in raising funds from overseas and in disbursing its funds
  • The question of 1MDB paying interest at rates higher than the market rate
  • The question of 1MDB paying fees to Goldman Sachs International that are considered exorbitant
  • The less-than-transparent parking of funds overseas, specifically in the Cayman Islands
  • Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua’s statement that the Finance Ministry had issued a letter of support to guarantee 1MDB’s loans and Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan’s subsequent assertion that no such letter had been issued
  • The workings of 1MDB subsidiaries, 1MDB Global Investments Ltd and 1MDB Energy Ltd
  • The purchase of energy assets from Powertek Energy and Sanyen Power Sdn Bhd at prices higher than the market price
  • The purchase of 234 acres of land in Air Itam at RM1.38 billion, which will be hard to recover from the proposed housing projects
  • The US$1.2 billion investment in PetroSaudi International Ltd, which was done without transparency
  • The purchase of land from Tadman Resources Bhd in Pulau Indah for RM317 million
  • The purchase, at a premium price, of the site for the Tun Razak Exchange project.
Speaking to the press after making the report,  he said he was not worried that Umno might take action against him. “I’ll ask them on what grounds they would take action because I made the report against a private company, not Umno,” he said. - FMT

Cabinet discussed, questioned and surprised with 1MDB?

This is indeed a very refreshing development that would assure the people's confidence and trust in the Government.

A highly placed source revealed early this morning that the Malaysian cabinet which sat for its weekly meeting yesterday had touched on all those negative news coming out of 1MDB and personalities linked to the Government owned company.

A senior minister, I was told, had raised the issue and pointed that none of the members of the cabinet were able to give a clear explanation as to what 1MDB really stood for and the controversies revolving around the sovereign wealth fund's wheelings and dealings.

Another source confirmed that the 'very senior' cabinet member was not alone as a few others had also openly questioned the very need for 1MDB to exist and its benefits to the nation. Some cabinet members were also irked that no one could provide holistic satisfactory explanation to critics.

At least two cabinet members had brought former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's queries on 1MDB to the cabinet's attention.

It is understood that someone in the cabinet also quipped that '1MDB seems to be taking everybody, including this cabinet, on a ride'.

The Malaysian Cabinet meeting yesterday was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak  is away on an official trip to South Korea. It was understood that the PM would be on a long holiday after the Korea trip.

Najib has come under fire for the dubious wheelings and dealing of 1MDB for more than a year now but the 1MDB Chairman of Board of Advisors has mainly refused to answer or provide satisfactory explanations to his critics who include Dr Mahathir and former Finance Minister Tun Daim Zainuddin.

p/s Could this sudden sense of realisation in the cabinet be due to talk that some top banks have sought Bank Negara's intervention to stop the 1MDB rot?

Speaking up and questioning cannot be sedition, even if its about 1MDB

LISTEN for your own good
I fully support and had pressed for the Sedition Act 1948 to be maintained. I'm still very much for the ISA to be re-instituted. My stand is for the simple reason that a big majority of Malaysians are actually for the ISA.

If you ask me for proof that a big majority of Malaysians actually wanted the ISA, I would direct you to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. I believe the PM cannot provide the evidence to prove me wrong.

That was about the now repealed ISA. The saga endured by the Sedition Act, which miraculously survived the blade, is a similar story with a different ending. However it appears as though the move to sabotage the Sedition Act has not been halted.

I must thank the PM for mustering enough guts to reverse his earlier, unilateral, decision to repeal the Sedition Act 1948 but in the same breath Najib must also be cautioned against condoning the abuse of the act or any other acts for the matter.

No one is above the law or have been accorded the privilege to abuse the law of this land.

I reproduce below Tokoh Wartawan Negara Datuk A Kadir Jasin's latest comment in his blog under the posting When PM sues

1. The laws are not at fault. The people enforcing them are. I am for ISA, EO and Sedition Act. But should the government use Sedition Act against people who criticize the PM, his wife and their favourite projects?

2. Is criticizing leaders, their spouses, children and friends an act of dangerous provocation?

3. Is it written anywhere that 1MBD enjoys "kekebalan" (immunity)?

4. Is it wrong for the Tun Dr Mahathir, the Governor of Bank Negara and other caring Malaysians to take the 1MDB board and management to task?

5. Is it wrong to ask why 1MDB paid way above market price for lands it bought in Penang?

6. If 1MDB is so sound, why is it that some Tier 1 banks opted out of the syndicate funding it while others are taking risk lending billion of ringgit to it?

7. More importantly, are these loans being serviced as promised and the IPP vendors being paid?

8. I have contacted Menteri Abdul Wahid Omar (himself a banker) a number of times to give feedback on what is sent to my blog and what I hear from the marketplace.

9. I am not be able to publish all that I hear about 1MBD because they are told to me in strict confidence and I have no way of verifying them.

10. Abdul Wahid said he could not say much because he is governed by BAFIA.

Wallahuaklam.

p/s Take note that when a law is abused, the victim is the said law and as such you don't repeal/amend the law to sort out the mess. Action must be taken against the abuser or abusers, not the victim.

Najib dibangangkan pegawai sendiri ?

Siapa bangang Datuk Seri?

It is from his heart".

Perdana Menteri kita harus melantik seorang penasihat yang mempunyai jati diri yang ampuh serta akal fikiran yang tajam and a heart in the right place.
