WHO could transform KHAZANAH?

Nobody in their right frame of mind would be surprised if Khazanah Nasional's Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar tenders his resignation or (refuses to extend his contract) as the Managing Director of the Government's investment arm.

Azman's failures as the head of Khazanah are one too many to be listed. Everyone in the corporate sector seem to know that Azman is on his way out but the BIG QUESTION now is who next?

Certainly there are many others who are more than qualified and experienced to helm Khazanah. Those advising the Finance Minister on this vital appointment - to a seat that holds the dangerous blend of power, influence and  unlimited funds - should be mindful of our past blunders.

Identifying the right candidate shouldn't be a big problem to the Prime Minister. Just take a look at the list of GLC heads in the stable. There are a few in 'Your Territory' Mr.PM... and could possibly lead the real transformation of Khazanah Nasional Berhad.

The transformation of Khazanah under a new Managing Director would reflect the wisdom of the Prime Minister.

A brief background (of the long history of Amok) by Another Brick in the Wall. I'd spare the out-going Khazanah boss from YB Wee Choo Keong's chronicles. about MAS, BinaFikir and the failed share 'SUAP' with the Malaysian Indian..eeerr (I think now 'Indonesian') aviation guru.

p/s 'Aiyooooo'...fikir-fikir dulu kalau nak appoint Amok jadi chairman sana-sini, performance record pun bukan exemplary... and is he a winnable candidate as some have suggested ? Again, this (fielding him as a candidate in the next GE) will reflect the wisdom of the BN chairman.

Abdul Wahid of Maybank as new Khazanah boss please!

The best person to lead Khazanah at the moment is Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammed. He being all the while being visionary towards Malaysia's growth and a great entrepreneur, with the plus factor of being "stern" and also with other foreign countries "segan of him" who else? When dealings with internal companies within Malaysia and the economics jargons, he will be accountable. I.E he has to answer to the cabinet, that will be very interresting. Ada berani kah wei to appoint our "best Salesman" for that very important caretaker government coffers posts? His ideas has been workable all the time, has it not?

The right candidate to take over Khazanah to me is Tan Sri Hassan Merican. That is IF Malaysia can bring him back & bury the hatchet on Petronas bad move.

Bro, Che Khalib ex-TNB is a good CEO, Celcom's Sazali is a doing a great job in Celcom (against a giant like Maxis), Wahid of Maybank is good.

ALTHOUGH I DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF HIM BEING ASKED TO LEAD KHAZANAH, DR MAHATHIR COULD PLAY AN ADVISORY ROLE AND THAT ONE OF AN AMBASSADOR, PARTICULARLY FOR FOREIGN VENTURES.

Some of my distracted blog commentator suggest me. What do you think, Apanama?

Promise not to whack me and i have something in mind

Off course, it will be in the precedent and tradition of Azman Mokhtar and his typical time warped MCOBA/PTD.

I bonton-u-&-u-bonton-me. Dont get me wrong. I mean Bonton the fine dining restaurant.

Only choice available in Malaysia is between Khairy or Omar Ong or Danny.

Because they all are god's give to Malaysia. They studied at Oxbridge, good talker/salesman, and able at destroying anything built in the past.

Exactly what Amokh is already doing.

No bankers please . . . heartless. Not Wahid.

No KJ-linked in the past. So no Shazaly.

A builder and with common man value to appreciate rakyat. . . . . Che Khalib.

Rafizi ramli . . . just kidding :-)

A Voice & Biggie tag team ... How abt that bro?

It is not enough for Amokh to leave Khazanah. The company must also go through internal audit, and people like Amokh, Ganen and Zaida must go to jail subsequently. These are the scammers that should not be let free.

May be the recently resigned Syed Zainal of Proton can fit for he job. let's bring back khazanah to its original course...high tech, high capital, highly strategic future business with high potential growth prospects. Not a khazanah who can only compete with funfair apeks (kidzania & legoland!!!) which of no futuristc strategic wise apart from charging exorbitant entrance fees for orang kampungs albeit they are having it using orang kampung's money!!!

Maybe its time to bring on some technical wise man with engineerings / techno apreciations. let's forget abt the usual suspects like khalibs, wahids etc ...those accountants can be very narrow mindes and boring at times too....

Wahid? He seems to be interested in restructuring, changing logos and either chopping up or merging companies. Left pocket to right pocket stuff. No real value there.

Che Khalib? Without going into details, the man has had too much bad press as it is.... Suffice to say, perception wise, it's an appointment that will lose points....
Shazalli? 20+ consecutive quarter growths at Celcom. Shazalli for Khazanah CEO!

bro,
please check, is it true khazanah has bought over kuala lumpur metropolitan university (klmu) formerly known as cosmopoint for a big amount of money - rm 240 million!
if it is true, the khazanah people has to answer to the rakyat for spending big money to a low class ipts.

No, no,no none of those mentioned above. No new ideas to show except playing the accounts. Boring. Mcm tak ade orang lain.

On the other hand,The Voice has consistently been showing his brain power. His thinking is sharp, ideas are pragmatic, interested in almost anything that's of import, analysis are shrewed, and most importantly he is a true nationalist i.e. with the interest of the nation at heart.

Hey Voice, take this chance and introduce yourself.

Pls select the strong character. I prefer Tan Sri Khamil Jamil, CEO Drbhicom. Khazanah need him to sack all the useless people in GLC especially 4th floor boys who create lots of damage these days. Another one is Tan Sri Wahid. Dont choose che khalib TNB, or Sazalli Celcom, they dont have a strong character

Wahid not nationalistic, too dry. Poor communicator. Sort of person who will coverup nor yakcop wrongdoings.

Syed Zainal orang Pas Piss Puss. End up manipulating Khazanah.

Cant see him beyond car industry.

Despite his Pas Piss Puss inclination, bring him to the BoD.

Need a real technologist, but not rebadging pls.

Only a dunggu will lose monry in the cellphone biz. Profitability of celcom is not most important.

Can shazally run tnb into profitability? Remember sarawak lost NTV under his tenure. They say it is because of tiara pgl spending but he was ceo.

Only a marketing man. Famous for perception play in field of branding. No more, no less.

Khazanah have real problem. Not just perception problem that is easier to fix.

Never mind perception issue of cik khalib. Not difficult to fix.

Most important, he whipped tnb out of its gomen culture and the mess of the past mgmt. Turn tnb out of all ptoblem and left to new ceo a good company.

He has got more high level work and mgmt experiance in multitude of industries from his days in renong, ranhill, kubb, and tnb.

Far better background to do strategic investment than textbook consultant, azman mokhtar, ganen, etc.

Azman M (M for Mangkuk),

Please bring all your superdungus ex-analysts, ex-consultants, MCOBA bitches out of Khazanah once your contract expires next year. You guys are nothing but a bunch of syok-sendiri pricks that don't deserved a dime from taxpayers.

Syed zainal, rebadging? Someone must be kidding, don't pretend that we have not heard any single damn thing about preve? That is real man, an achievement of sorts.

The next MD'Khazanah is.,.to be continued...

I totally agree with Ben Alsagoff. Only Hassan Merican can bring dignity back to Khazanah. Let's see whether Najib will do the right thing - Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian DiUtamakan! I am tired reading all the nonsence from Amok for MAS & AA fiasco. The PM must make correct things whenever there is problem and not just keep quiet. Forget those pasar malam sales for a change.

Abdul Wahid Omar and Che Khalib are Nor Yakcop's appointees in the first place. So are a lot of the GLC heads. So don't consider them. Look aoutside the GLC circle. I am sure that there are good & smart Malay leaders available.

Shouldn't the government conduct a worldwide search for the best-qualified Malaysians, regardless of ethnicity, to helm Khazanah?

After all, there are many Malaysians holding important jobs in MNCs, consultancies and financial institutions in countries outside Malaysia.

There's nothing in Khazanah's writ that dictates that it's MD post be limited to candidates of a particular ethnicity.

And why should the PM's 1Malaysia ideals countenance anything other than the best candidate for the job in an open and transparent recruitment exercise?
