HASBI belum HABIS.

Alleged Corruption Involving Political Secretary Still Being Probed

KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- The corruption case involving a former political secretary to a minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop, is still being investigated by the authorities, the Dewan Rakyat was told Thursday.
A deputy minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Liew Vui Keong said follow-up action would only be taken after the investigation had been completed and that there were concrete evidence found against Hasbie Satar.
"The case is still under investigation, so I can't say much on the case," he said when winding up the debate on the Lower Courts (Amendment) Bill 2010 at the Dewan Rakyat sitting.
On Wednesday, Wee Choo Keong (Ind-Wangsa Maju) when debating the Bill sought clarification on the status of the probe on the corruption case involving Hasbie.
Wee had asked why Hasbie had yet to be prosecuted in court and whether the case had been closed.
Hasbie was detained on Feb 12 but was released by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) six days later on a RM50,000 bail.
According to media reports earlier, MACC officers from Putrajaya had raided an apartment in Teluk Air Tawar, Butterworth, Penang and found cash in denominations of RM5, RM10, RM50 and RM100 totalling about RM2 million.

WANGSA MAJU MP Wee Choo Keong has been very consistent in pursuing this mother-of-all corruption case and today the INDEPENDENT YB brought it up again. In recent days he had also highlighted the Securities Commission's high-handedness in dealing with journalists and exposed the inside story of SC chairman Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar.

The arrest of Hasbi and the recovery of millions of ringgit in cash in an apartment in Penang SEVEN months ago had raised all kinds of speculations, but TOP among those inside story was the involvement of his Boss Nor Mohamed Yakcop.

Nor Mohamed remains a Minister in the Malaysian cabinet.

Nor Mohamed has not come clean on how his political secretary managed to amass such large amount of cash in small denominations.

While those directly linked to the case are keeping mum, everyone else are having a field day accusing the PM and the government of all sorts of crimes.

There are a few other high profile cases, including that linking former Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, which has been investigated by MACC.

MACC it was learnt, had proposed for the VVIP to be charged but maybe the Attorney General is still counting the pages of the IP sent to him many moons ago.

Should the law be amended yet again to accord the MACC prosecuting powers?

I certainly think so, what do you think?

p/s What could we expect from the yet-to-be completed investigation into Hasbi Satar if Azalina is still roaming around with impunity?
