We the independent-sovereign nation of Malaysia, were known to speak our mind and stand up against the tyranny of any individual/nation or group of nations. We were truly proud to be Malaysians then, under the stewardship of Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad.
Malaysia and Malaysians stood tall in every given forum, either regional or international. Our voice and stance in Asean, Apec, NAM, OIC, Chogm, UN and other groupings were often eagerly awaited by developing, developed and the super powers.
From a Malay peninsula which was situated 'north of Singapore / south of Siam', Malaysia under Dr.Mahathir rose to be a respected nation feared by those who flouted international rules and regulations.
But after October 2003 (Dr.M's retirement), we basically became a 'pussy' when this beloved nation was raped by a group of self-appointed young punk PMs.
The (inherited) chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) came to naught under the guy who was chosen to replace Dr.Mahathir.
We even became the 'running dog' for a small tiny red dot island that assumed the role of Israel in South East Asia.
But when Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took over the mantle after the lame interim guy was booted out, I for one had great hopes that Najib would redeem our lost pride and STAND UP for what is right.
Today, I'm happy that we (under Datuk Seri Najib) appear to be heading in the right direction.
While we cherish our relationship with each and every nation, that friendship should not mean that our arms could be twisted and be forced to compromise our deep rooted values.
Dear Prime Minister, you are the man!
"Do the RIGHT thing, even if its HARDER than doing the WRONG thing".
