KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR

UMuhyiddinYassiNO - The MAN in Umno.

Yes! In the eyes and minds of million of Malaysians today, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin appears to be the real saviour of this country and her people.

While Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak appeared trapped waist-deep in a well-designed 'quick-sand', Muhyiddin appeared like the proverbial Knight in Shining Armor and pulled Najib and Umno out of the doldrums.

Muhyiddin, through his frank and unveiled words describing actual grassroots sentiments in the country, has not only saved Umno from oblivion but also the Barisan Nasional coalition from total destruction.

Gallantly showing the President and Prime Minister the EXIT is no easy feat but from now on Muhyiddin has to watch his back.

p/s The hounds and the running dogs would surely be thirsty for Muhyiddin's blood since he has almost single-handedly busted the 'Great Khazanah Robbers' and the 'Raiders of the Rakyat's Money'.

Some are already planning to flee but a few hyenas are re-grouping. Najib, Muhyiddin and all those BRAVE HEARTS in Umno should be extra-cautious from now on since the remaining hyenas might even 'Sleep With The Enemy' to ensure those who initiated their downfall don't go far.

These 'living things', including the SHAMELESS LIARS running the MalaysianInsider news-portal won't stop at anything ... unless we STOP them once an for all.

The police Special Branch, Commercial Crime Div and the Anti-Corruption Agency are now free to re-activate their thick files on those known 'foreign operatives' and 'subversive elements' within us.

Just get hold of the Tun Ghaffar Baba era files, remove the dust coat and I think we could discover the TURNCOAT.

DUMPED ?

Does this banner in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, right infront of Menara Dato' Onn (PWTC), reflect the sentiments of a vast majority of Malaysians ?

ADDING adVICErs!

Another Adviser for the same NCER ?

Looks like an earlier DEAL where the Bernama Chairman has 'SCOOPED' us all ... last year.

So, Shahidan Kassim is effectively the 'Second' Special Adviser to the Prime Minister on the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER).

From the archives of ...mmmmm apanama?

Thursday September 6, 2007
Bernama chairman made PM’s NCER adviser

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman Datuk Annuar Zaini has been appointed special adviser to the Prime Minister for the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER).
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi appointed Annuar to the post on Aug 30.
Annuar, who has vast experience in the private and public sector, will be coordinating efforts to set up the plan implementation agency as well as monitoring all start-up activities in the region.
The Prime Minister’s Department announced Annuar’s appointment in a statement here yesterday.

Looks like an annual award though. Could Ahmad Ismail be the 3rd Adviser representing Penang, since we already have two ADVISERS from Perak and Perlis ? After that we decide on the ADVISER from Kedah.

p/s No, no! Don't protest Ahmad's appointment la. He was also present at the Penang Umno's Press Conference where Datuk Rashid voiced the State Umno's unanimous support for Pak Lah. So, he qualifies.

What! Ahmad should not be there because he has been suspended by the Supreme Council ? Helloooo, its OKAY la. He supports Pak Lah what ... he could also ADVICE the PM on the ADVISERS!

GOODIES by Santa Claus.

Plunder, then blunder!

As expected of him (or more of those Great Khazanah Robbers who have been ‘riding’ him) Abdullah has opened his Goodies Bag wide open.
The embattled Umno president, Prime Minister and Defence Minister, is also officially a Santa Claus now.
From now on, expect Abdullah to be more a Santa Claus than anything else as his-fate-determining Umno grassroots meetings are drawing closer.
What better way to shore up support than giving away what is not yours.

Wonder what will happen when the sweets melt away under the current 'heated' scenario.

WIPING out MR.CLEAN!

Pak Lah ponders his future
If the PM had only thrown away caution, not chances...
- the above are two back-to-back HEADINGS of analysis from MalaysianInsider more than 48 hours after Abdullah was given an ultimatum to resign as Umno president by Oct 9, 2008.

Surprisingly the all-too-influential MalaysianInsider news-portal, a clandestine propaganda outfit of Mr.Callymullah, was dead-silent on the day Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was given a dressing down by the Umno Supreme Council.

Before that ‘auspicious day’, the news portal would beat even Cabinet members to plans and announcements up the Prime Minister and Umno President’s sleeves.

On numerous occasions Abdullah Badawi was left to repeat announcements published earlier by the on-line news portal.

MalaysianInsider, for those of you who wonder where it came from, is the brainchild of Abdullah’s kitchen-cabinet.

The portal’s primary role is to enhance and solidify the kitchen-cabinet’s HOLD on the Prime Minister while appearing to be enhancing his image.

Spinning is too mild of a word to describe the outfit.

And now, after being ambushed by the BRAVE supreme council members who have demanded nothing other than Badawi’s immediate resignation, the PROPAGANDA machinery is once again going full-steam.

Even if Abdullah might be resigned to the fact that his time is UP, those hungry power-brokers and the ‘Great Khazanah Robbers’ led by Mr.Cally are not likely to let him go that easily.

The culprits have started painting a different picture from the actual situation on the ground and are trying very hard to make it look rosy for Abdullah.

They don’t care, if their bluff is exposed and Abdullah suffers a HUMILIATING EXIT as ‘the only Umno president to be totally rejected by party’.

This band of bandits from the kitchen-cabinet not only risks losing their 4-year loot and all the posh life they have built through illegal means but they also face the possibility of facing the Long Arm Of The Law.

Yes! That is exactly why they don’t mind sacrificing Abdullah Ahmad Badawi!

Badawi is a spent shell! They are now just skimming to buy time. Time is all they need to cover their dirty-trails and ‘plant’ the right stooges at the right places, both in and out of the perimeters of POLITICS.

The clandestine propaganda machinery spearheaded by Mr.Cally would do all they could to ensure Abdullah’s stays put.

They’re now actively spreading lies insinuating that several State Umno liaison chiefs were backing Abdullah when in actual fact the voice of Umno grassroots is Loud & Clear.

The notion that Sabah Umno is backing Abdullah is a tall tale to begin with.

Maybe Musa Aman claimed so in a telephone conversation to Mr.Cally but are Sabah Umno (Division and Branch) leaders so stupid to back a dead-horse and expect it to win the race?

Maybe the paralyzed Penang Umno warlords could still be hanging out in Abdullah’s kitchen, that’s about it.

The bandits led by Mr.Cally would throw in everything they have to convince the Prime Minister that he still enjoys great support and that Malaysians are so in love with him, to the extend that they would crawl and cry on all major highways if he were to step-down.

They will portray the Umno president as the savior of the Malays while in actual fact a huge majority of Malays, both urban and rural, are losing their patience waiting for Abdullah to leave.

If you decide to ‘Stand and Fight’ the current Tsunami in Umno, Pak Lah, you’ll be wiped out.

PAK LAH! If you continue to listen to these PARASITES, as you have been doing all this while, we Malaysians are so sorry for you and your family.

p/s Let’s just watch this drama unfold – for now its ‘Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea’ kind of situation for Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

Good Luck, Mr.Clean!

p/s2 - Sheih Kickdefella has some teasers here. As usual Kickdefella triggers laughter while giving an insight to Pak Lah's popularity ... even among policemen and their station lock-up.

NAJIB STAY'S PUT, ABDULLAH TO GO.

It’s Confirmed!

Deputy Prime Minister is not going out … of the country. Datuk Seri Najib has cancelled his official Middle East trip to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He was scheduled to leave today.

Najib is staying back to ensure ‘political stability’, as recommended by senior Umno Supreme Council members after their historic meeting at Menara Dato’ Onn, Putra World Trade Centre last night.

The current tumultuous global economy and the fact that he was just appointed as Finance Minister just two days ago is another contributing factor to the cancellation of this trip.

The decision comes on the heels of a ‘tell-tale’ Supreme Council decision last night which urged Umno President and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to ‘Sack Himself’ before he is ‘Sacked by Umno members’.

Abdullah has been given time till October 9, 2008 to move OUT.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s next overseas engagement is the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Maybe the Oct 24 UNGA meeting in the famed American-city could be Najib’s first overseas assignment as acting Prime Minister of Malaysia.

We shall see, while we wait for the embattled Umno president’s actions and reactions.

p/s Sources from Putrajaya chirped that an audience with the DYMM Yang Di-Pertuan Agong and an emergency Cabinet meeting could precede an urgent implementation of the much talked about ‘Transition of Leadership’ from Abdullah to Datuk Seri Mohd.Najb Bin Tun Abdul Razak.

BADAWI ...ASKED TO LEAVE

The UMNO Supreme Council, with an overwhelming majority, has TOLD Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to relinquish his post as Umno president and Prime Minister.

Abdullah has been given the ultimatum to announce his RETIREMENT on or before October 9, 2008 when the Umno Divisional Meetings begin.

A senior Umno member who was present at the meeting said the most vocal among senior Supreme Council members was Wanita Chief and Kuala Kangsar Member of Parliament, Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.

The Supreme Council members, except for a few rookies, told Abdullah that he should announce his intention of NOT seeking re-election during the party polls in December or risk being HUMILIATED.

They explained that Abdullah would face the greatest humiliation if he fails to garner enough nominations to retain his position as president.

“They made it very clear to the President that a vast majority of grass-root Umno members and leaders, both at Branch and Division levels, want him OUT.

“We just hope that he understands the actual scenario now and leave gracefully,” the source said.

It appears that Umno Divisional leaders have already started to distance themselves from Abdullah.

At the Majlis Berbuka Puasa he hosted at Putra World Trade Centre, after the ‘historic Supreme Council meeting at the adjacent Menara Dato’ Onn, the turn-out was very poor.

Members of the media at the function were perplexed, but they were not surprised.

Neither am I.

p/s Let’s together wait for THE END of disaster, and a NEW BEGINNING for our beloved MALAYSIA.

ABDULLAH: Early leadership transition possible

BERNAMA
PUTRAJAYA, WED: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said the leadership transition which had been agreed upon by him and his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in 2010 can take place much earlier.

“The timing is flexible. If I want to go earlier, it is possible,” the prime minister told a news conference at his office here. Najib was also present at the news conference.

Abdullah said the transition plan would depend, among others, on Najib’s performance. Pressed further on the timing, Abdullah said, “It could be between now and June 2010.”

Saying that both leaders were committed to the succession plan, Abdullah said he would defend the Umno presidency at party polls in December while Najib had also confirmed that he would not challenge Abdullah for the post.

When asked further on the timeframe, Abdullah said, “It is not for you to ask and for me to say.”
Abdullah said the matter would be decided accordingly as the succession process takes place. Meanwhile, Najib concurred with Abdullah, saying they both had reached an agreement on the matter.

He hoped that the transition plan would be accepted by the party for the sake of the country’s stability and party solidarity.

Najib also said that he would not accept any nomination for the president’s post as he was commited to the succession plan. (The SPINNING part)

Look Who's Talking

WHO IS HE ?

Either Muhyiddin Resign Or Be Sacked, Says Zaid

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 12 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim Friday came out guns blazing against International Trade and Industry Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who Thursday asked the transfer of power fixed for 2010 be brought forward. The de facto law minister said if Muhyiddin was not happy with the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, he should either resign or be sacked by Abdullah."It is very simple. If Muhyiddin is not happy with the prime minister, he can resign from the cabinet, as it means he has no confidence in Pak Lah (Abdullah), or Pak Lah should sack him."He was speaking to reporters after launching an exhibition entitled "Wallscapes: The Merdeka Paintings by Wang Lan, Wang Xu and Shen Jiawei" at Galeri Petronas, here Friday.

p/s This guy owes his living to Abdullah Badawi, so he sets his tunes accordingly. While Muhyiddin is a duly elected Member of Parliament answerable to the rakyat who voted him in, Zaid is simply Abdullah Badawi's 'boy' who was appointed as a Senator, saving him from disappearing into a state of oblivion.

Zaid, you have no locus-standi to urge Muhyiddin to resign. Nor do you have the standing to ask the PM what to do (you might be a member of the powerful kitchen-Cabinet, but please Mr.Zaid, keep your hidden affairs strictly in the Kitchen).

If you're a lap-dog, behave as one. Lap-dogs would be clobbered when their masters dump them.

Muhyiddin: PM should step down before 2010 - TheStar

SINGAPORE: Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi should rethink his transition plan to step down by 2010 as the timeframe was too long.
The transition plan revealed by Abdullah two months ago, he claimed, had “sunk away” and people were not thinking about it any more.
“The year 2010 is too (far away),” he told a news conference on the sidelines of the Forbes Global CEO Conference here on Wednesday.

I pray for the following Headlines in all English dailies on Thursday.
(The Bahasa Melayu newspapers could translate the headlines if they wish)

UMNO PRESIDENT SACKS HIMSELF.

Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday (10 Sept, 2008) :- Datuk Seri Abdullah Bin Ahmad Badawi today took an unprecedented step in the 51 year history of the nation by SACKING himself as President of Umno.

The much cherished move also automatically disqualifies him as the Prime Minister of Malaysia.

Announcing his decision to quit as Umno president and Prime Minister after a stormy Umno supreme council meeting here, Abdullah said he finally accepted the fact that the people have rejected his leadership.

He also announced the sacking of Bukit Bendera Umno head Datuk Ahmad Ismail from all party positions and for the controversial politician to be detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) until the grassroots situation in Pulau Pening improves.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Bin Tun Abdul Razak is now acting Prime Minister while Vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Bin Yassin is acting deputy Prime Minister.

The two senior party leaders would hold the respective positions until the Umno annual general assembly in December.

Sources told CNN, BBC, AlJazeera and the rest of the world that several Umno leaders, close relatives and businessmen linked to Abdullah were been detained at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport while trying to leave the country before Abdullah officially hands over his duties to Najib at Istana Negara on Friday.

Some of them have been quarantined at the KLIA police lock-up while a few other dangerous ones have been sent to the Kamunting Detention Centre in Perak.

The famous KJ, another source from the Immigration Department said, has been detained while trying to cross the tiny Sungai Golok, at the Malaysia/Thailand border in Kelantan.

To be continued as the saga unfolds …..

Note: Watch this space for hourly updates on the fate of Ali Baba & his 40 thieves.

How I wish to read such piece of news in the main stream media on Thursday.

REVERSE ... Just Prove Dr.M Wrong.

To ridicule Tun Dr.Mahathir seems to be the main agenda again, not only among politicians but also the so-called academicians.

THE teaching of Mathematics and Science in English started more than FIVE years ago but Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris lecturer Professor Datuk Dr Isahak Haron has just opened his eyes.

In an interview published in the New Sunday Times the born-again 'Malay Nationalist' claims that the change to English was an ’irresponsible move’, and that many students have lost out due of the policy.

The seasoned journalists who conducted the interview floated some really good arguments but the nationalist seems unperturbed, knowing well that he is just JUSTIFYING and ENDORSING a drastic move which has been decided upon.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is going to revert the teaching of Science and Mathematics from English to Bahasa Malaysia pretty soon.

It is not a decision based on the lame and idiotic reasons discovered by the nationalist professor from UPSI but more a DESPERATE move to appease the angry Malays.

Abdullah is trying to score maximum points by portraying himself as a saviour of the Malay language, at a time when his popularity is below the deepest well in the country.

Abdullah and his goons are also enthusiastic as such a move would put Dr.Mahathir in bad light.

Just decipher the nationalist professor's response to the two questions below, and try to figure out his IQ.

Q: Would it have made a difference if the teachers had had a better command of English?

A: That will take 10 or 20 more years then.

Q: Isn't it possible to have a concurrent system? Because if you abandon things because they don't work within five years, then you can never start anything.

A: This is what Dr Mahathir's (former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad) people are talking about. They don't care about the 70 or 80 per cent of the children. All they care about is that their agenda is correct. It doesn't matter if it takes 20 years; you see his gamble?

New Sunday Times - 7 Sept, 2008

(Dr.Mahathir's people ? Who are they Mr. (Nutty) Professor? Excuse me, are you an Umno politician from the other side of the divide ? You call yourself an educationist ? May God save our children).

p/s1 Pak Lah, Malaysians are unhappy with your TOTAL FAILURE as the Prime Minister of this country. Stop your stupid racial politics and get real. If you revert the system, thousands of students are going to suffer.

At least consult your wife, she looks a little intelligent and appears to be genuinely concerned about our children.

p/s2 Mr.Prof, you could have gone a long way through your 'ball carrying' skills but its a pity that the owner of the 'balls' is at the tail-end of his disastrous journey. I think you should go and pick-up Jawi from Lee Kim Sai.

'Tak Chun' Wai

Go here :

http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2008/9/7/nation/22260775&sec=nation
and judge the merit/credibility of this article in TheStar ( read Wong Chun Wai ).

Chun Wai, the official ball carrier of MCA and the Badawi family, jumped the gun and performed a similiar stunt a day earlier by barking out aloud at Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad for a thought-provoking posting in http://www.chedet.com/

The ball-carriers' howls were however ignored by readers who had the IQ and EQ to understand what was being articulated by the leader with 22 years experience as Prime Minister of a successful multiracial nation.

When his attempts to incite racism among the Chinese community, through an earlier article in his blog ('Dr M misses the Point'), failed the racist Chun Wai didn't give up but decided to drag others into his crusade.

When his blog posting failed to incite or fuel the sentiments of the Chinese and the Indians, he takes another step in the dangerous direction.

All the other media stopped harping on the issue but, as usual, Chun Wai had to do it to satisfy his racist soul.

The heading of the article 'Leaders Upset With Dr M' suggests something grave but the provocative line stops there. The content of the article appears to be in a far more wider context.

On Saturday the 'dead-horse' Prime Minister vehemently warned the media against fanning sensitive racial issues but the 'ball carrier' has done exactly that in his newspaper today.

While eroding the impartiality of TheStar, the 'Datukship-hungry' Chun Wai has clearly proven to be a hardcore racist.

It is racists like Chun Wai who should be arrested under the ISA for manipulating the media for their personal and their pay-masters political gains.

But, being a dead-horse, Badawi wouldn't lift a finger to stop such racists among us.

p/s I don't think Ling Jr would have been approached to comment for the article as Chun Wai is the running dog for the other Team in MCA. If the 'Ling' team wins, Chun Wai is screwed.

Try promoting Dr.Wee and friends through another issue and don't drag them into your racists sentiments.

Get a life la, triple-Datuk. Your days in TheStar are numbered ... Kamunting welcomes you.

WALK THE TALK ... HARTAL WAY ?

COULD HARTAL KICK BADAWI OUT ?

Hartal is a term in many Indian languages for strike action, used often during the Indian Independence Movement.

It is mass protest often involving a total shutdown of workplaces, offices, shops, courts of law as a form of civil disobedience.

In addition to being a general strike, it involves the voluntary closing of schools and places of business.

It is a mode of appealing to the sympathies of a government to change an unpopular or unacceptable decision.[1]

Hartal was originally a Gujarati expression signifying the closing down of shops and warehouses with the object of realising a demand.

MK Gandhi, the Indian national leader from organised a series of anti-British general strikes which he called hartals, thereby institutionalizing it.

In Bangladesh a hartal is a constitutionally recognised political method for articulating any political demand.[2]

In Sri Lanka, it is often used to refer specifically to the 1953 hartal of Ceylon.

Hartals are still common in India, Bangladesh and in northern and eastern Sri Lanka.[citation needed]

In Malaysia, the word "hartal" was used to refer to various general strikes in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, such as the All-Malaya hartal of 1947 and the Penang hartal of 1967.

The word hartal in India is also used in humorous sense to mean abstaining from work. Another variant which is common in Hindi-speaking regions is the bhukh hartal which translates as hunger strike.

MAKAM PAHLAWAN FOR PAK SAMAD !

Hero's Mausoleum For the Nationalist ... For He Deserves More Than That For His Love For Malaysia.

Much has been said about Pak Samad, the NumeroUno journalist and National Hero in true sense.

His demise, at a time when the nation and its leaders are searching for their soul, is a great loss to our spirits for Pak Samad stood as the icon of truth, patriotism and unwavering nationalism.

He was thrown into jail a couple of times but the five years under the Internal Security Act (ISA) under the Umno-led Malaysia government could have been the greatest pain in his heart.

Nothing beats the pain of being betrayed by your own kind, in your own land by your own friends.

The Government that could apologise and pay-out huge amounts of money in ex-Gratia for rightfully sacked judges never bothered to even say a few words in regret for what was done to the National Hero.

Pak Samad, as Nuraina (his daughter) revealed, didn’t demand nor expect such courtesy from the Government but is it too much for Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to do so?

Is it too much to ask for since the PM and his able cabinet have literally knelt before the Bar Council and the surviving sacked judges?

It may be too late for the Government to do anything of that sort now, but the least they could do to right the wrongs of the past is to ACCORD Tan Sri Abdul Samad Ismail a hero’s farewell and place him at the Hero’s Mausoleum (Makam Pahlawan) at the National Mosque.

This is the least we could do for him, as a nation which truly respects its real Heroes.

Thank you.

Al-Fatihah. May His Soul Rest in Peace.

CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE ?

GO AWAY ABDULLAH ! - voice of Malaysians.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has become National Disaster that quick action must be initiated to protect this beloved nation.

The existing BN leadership is in such a disarray that we, as a nation, have not experienced any real progress in the last couple of years.

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is a total failure and everyone knows it.

The 'Sleeping Emperor' and his never ending tales provide daily dosages of humour, anger and frustration for Cabinet members, senior most Civil servants, BN/Umno leaders and the ordinary man on the street.

Tun Dr.Mahathir Mohamad, in his latest posting ' WHY DON'T I DO SOMETHING' in http://www.chedet.com/ , has vented his frustration of how all attempts to 'Open the eyes of Malaysians' seems to have failed.

Forget about Umno as the party and it's members seems to be no better than a herd of cattle heading to the slaughterhouse.

What could we Malaysians do ?

What could we do to STOP ABDULLAH AHMAD BADAWI from destroying our country ? I believe this is the collective responsibility of all CITIZENS to deliberate on and act before its too late.

Could CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE invoke the necessary action and reaction ?

THINK ! Lets think and act for the future of our children.

p/s The key word is non-violence. While we want to remove Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at all costs, violence and anything against the basic tenets of humanity is a no! no!.
Anwar Ibrahim or PKR is a BIGGER NO! NO!

EYE OPENER

The following piece from KEHIDUPANBOZO ( www.kehidupanbozo.blogspot.com) is truly another EYE OPENER.

"This is about Karpal Singh the Lion of Jelutong who cried when detain by the Government during operation lalang in the 1980's.

Karpal as a politician should be contemptible not only to Dr Mahathir but to the rest of the Malaysian society who have some degree of moral belief and sense of fair play.

Karpal has managed to hide his racist and opportunistic political approach by riding on his so-called courage of being vocal and not mincing his words in criticising the BN Government.

A good example is his expose of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for sexual transgressions sometime during the first quarter of 1998 at a DAP convention held in Federal Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

At that time, Ummi Hafilda Ali and Azizan Abu Bakar, the two main witnesses in the Anwar’s sodomy trial, had given their sworn affidavits of Anwar’s sexual misdemeanour.

Karpal had stood before the DAP audience and said to the effect hat he had proof of the Deputy Prime Minister’s sexual misdeeds and challenged the Prime Minister (Dr Mahathir) to take action against his deputy.

It may sound unbelievable but I’m sure some DAP leaders or those who had since left the party would be more than prepared to come forward to verify this.

This revelation was made some five months before accusations of Anwar being a sodomite was made public or taken up by Dr Mahathir himself.

However, when Anwar was finally charged in court for sodomy based on the affidavits of Ummi Hafilda and Azizan, what did Karpal do?

He came forward to offer himself as one of Anwar’s defence lawyer. Of course it can be argued that in any system of justice, a person who is accused of any crime deserves to be defended, if not for his innocence, at least for leniency.

However, in the case of Anwar, the defence attorneys were defending his innocence and as such, Karpal should disqualify himself even if he was requested by Anwar.

This is based on the fact that Karpal was the very person who first made the accusations against Anwar and to a very large degree, was the one who encouraged, directly or otherwise, Ummi Hafilda and Azizan to take the case one step further.

Like it or not, given Karpal’s reputation (being vocal and not mincing his words), would have inspired confidence in Ummi Hafilda and Azizan to take the matter up to Dr Mahathir himself.

What kind of moral values does Karpal hold when he had, on one hand, publicly accused Anwar and then on the other, when the accusation is filed in court, he offers himself to be the defence counsel?

And one wonders why the Bar Council had not taken any steps to discipline Karpal? Is it out of fear (of his reputation) or that he speaks the same language as most members of the Bar.

And one should also wonder why Anwar himself seems to be comfortable with Karpal who had publicly accused him of his sexual misdemeanour but fumes and rant when it came from Dr Mahathir?

It can only then be deduced that Karpal is an unscrupulous lawyer/politician who is opportunistic and would grab anything which could provide him political gain.

Less the public forgets, Karpal when realising the unhappiness of the masses for the accusations of Anwar being a sodomite, ensured that he capitalised on the ground swell.

Gaining much publicity and political ground by being Anwar’s defence counsel, Karpal decided to take one step further.

He was again at the forefront in making the accusations of a conspiracy to murder Anwar over the use of arsenic.

No doubt, it was later proven that there was no such thing but for Karpal, he managed to grab the opportunity to be the “hero” of the moment and got the publicity he needed.

His kind of politics is divisive and destructive. It can only be deduced that he resorted to this because he could not stand the leadership of the Malays.

He couldn’t stand Dr Mahathir at the top and neither could he accept Anwar as the successor.

How does he remedy it – by pitting them against each other and then befriending the one perceived to be the victim?

Karpal cannot stand the fact that if there is any Malay in the country that would not be intimidated or suffer any sense of inferiority, it would be Dr Mahathir.

And Karpal knows, for as long as Dr Mahathir is respected and popular among the Malays, his agenda of undermining Malay leadership would not be achieved.

Now, he is back to his old tricks – throwing his support behind Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

This sudden affinity for Abdullah has got nothing to do with his concern over whether the nation is better off with Abdullah or otherwise.

Karpal realises that for as long as Abdullah remains as the Prime Minister and Umno president, the Malays would be further disenfranchised and sidelined in a nation where they are the majority.

To him, Dr Mahathir must not be allowed to push for Abdullah’s resignation as this would set back his agenda or maybe even back to square one.

The only way is to turn his attention on Dr Mahathir, encourage Abdullah to unearth issues which are perceived to be Dr Mahathir’s dirt so as to shut up the former Prime Minister.

Otherwise why does he only seemed concerned about Dr Mahathir’s purported past misdeeds when Abdullah’s misadministration and malpractices presently are there for everyone to see.

Karpal seems concern about use of ISA in the 1998 Ops Lallang. It can be argued that there are those who believed that Ops Lallang was a necessity given the political temperature then which was ready to blow.

Ask any Malay who was politically sensitive during that period – they would tell you that they were then ready to jump into the next bus and attend the Malay gathering at the TPCA stadium just to express their anger for the non-Malay continued attacks on the Malay rights and privileges.

The situation was indeed explosive and it can be argued that Ops Lallang was an evil necessity.

However, if Karpal is so concerned about the use of the ISA, there seems to be a deafening silence on his part when Abdullah used the ISA to lock up Sri Lankan businessman BSA Tahir for his links over the export of centrifuge to Libya by Scomi.

While Tahir may pose a danger but the fact that he was directly linked to Abdullah’s son Kamaluddin and his company Scomi made the placing of Tahir under the ISA very suspicious.

In fact, it smacked of Abdullah’s attempt to silence Tahir so as to protect his son. By any moral standards, between Ops Lallang and Tahir’s detention, the latter is immoral, unjust and self-serving.

If Karpal can be so concerned with the plight of a man he had publicly pronounced as a sodomite, is he not concerned with the possible victimisation of Tahir by the Prime Minister.

This, yet again, proves that justice and fair play are not of concern to Karpal.

The demand that Dr Mahathir apologise to Salleh Abas proves very much Karpal’s lack of regards for the justice system he proclaims to champion.

The matter cropped up when newly-appointed de facto Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim decided to put his foot in his mouth by suggesting that the Government apologise to Salleh Abas.

Then it was revealed that Zaid himself had in 1989 supported the setting up of the tribunal and had then, in his capacity as Muslim Lawyers Association president condemned the Bar Council for continuing to question the tribunal.

The whole issue boils down to whether the tribunal had been legally instituted or otherwise.

If it is, as Zaid seemed to be inferring, then the next question is whether the tribunal’s decision was right or wrong.

If it is accepted to be right, the issue of apologising to Salleh Abas does not arise. If its decision is wrong, then the tribunal should apologise to Salleh Abas and not anyone else.

As such, the whole thing must go through a process of several stages if justice were to be achieved. But for Karpal, these stages need not be pursued as justice to him is only when he is the judge, jury and executioner.

But he has not always been an executioner. Karpal was at one time willing to be executed, if his remark “over my dead body” is to be used as a yardstick.

He remarked this when PAS stoked the idea of setting up an Islamic state which brought strong reactions from DAP leaders and secularists.

But none were as strong as Karpal’s who, apart from having proven to be a committed one man anti-Malay army, now wanted to be anti-Islam.

While debates are encouraged and should be tolerated pertaining to the Islamic state issue, was it necessary to come up with such threatening statement as “over my dead body”.

Even though being a rabid anti-Islam may serve Karpal’s political career in his majority non-Malay constituency, his remark hurt many a Malay/Muslim feelings.

But did he care? Of course he didn’t. He only seemed to be remorseful in 1999 when PAS took the leading role in the reformasi movement, when a large segment of the Malays were quite united in opposing the BN Government.

Again Karpal saw the opportunity to work with the Malay/Muslims and he then expressed his regrets for making the “over my dead body” remark. Why the change of heart?

Simply because he knew that to ensure the continued split among the Malays, he must support either one of it and for his political agenda, it was best to support the reformasi even though PAS was very central to it.

Such is Karpal’s nature that, to my mind, contemptible is too gentle a word to describe a person like him."
